managed to did up the collages for here :) the whole lot will be uploaded onto Facebook soon :D
Day 1:
We only managed to finish packing in the morning (as always) & we realised that we dont have insect repellent which was a must-to-have :x thus we went over to Westmall to buy & grab lunch at the same time :)
went back home to grab our bags after lunch & off to the airport of all the times that i had went overseas, this was the first that i took public transport to the airport hahahs was rather afraid that we will be stopped at the mrt station for spot check (its both time delaying & super paiseh can) as we were carrying bulky bags but luckily we werent :D
long journey to the airport :X and still need to change to the shuttle bus to get us to the budget terminal check-in queue was short and smooth though :) went into departure hall with less than an hour to kill before boarding time :) that cheapo red receipt was my boarding pass
1435hr saw us at Gate 5 but the gate was closed thinking that we were still early (since flight time was at 1505hr), we sat around and waited saw a bit more people coming into Gate 5 but still no news and no staffs around
1505hr came and most of us were talking among ourselves about the delay i was telling baby how come there were only a handful of us waiting for this flight when its budget then someone went to ask (the staffs) & came back with news that the boarding was changed to Gate 7 & the flight had been delayed =.= like wtf there werent any announcements made during the half an hour that we were waiting at Gate 5 =.= & i got the answer to my question when we saw a big crowd at Gate 7 somehow the handful of us were the forgotten lot =.= impression of Tiger Airways was sinking fast...
joined the long queue & boarded the plane (finally) baby whipped out his PSP and i entertained myself with the in-flight magazine
it was just an hour+ flight :) i love window seats! :p
reached and waiting to get off the plane :)
had to walk in the hot sun, on the tarmac, to the airport :( cant complain since you cant expect everywhere to be Changi Airport T1-3 standard when you are taking budget but still, it was damn hot! like 34degrees out there o.O
the airport was small but good enough the best thing to me was that checked out was fast :) we were given a lot of fliers at the entrance for different attractions & packages then we took a quick walk around the shops in the airport before getting a cab to our resort the cabs were all at fixed price & we got to purchase a ticket at the airport entrance RM$24 for a 20minutes ride, quite expensive eh? :(
baby was excited about taking pictures with bro's camera :D and he snaps away as we were travelling on the road it was quite a journey and we saw wild cows (& cow dungs) on the sides of the road!
finally reached the resort! baby did the check-in while i waited at the lobby :)
then we were led by one of the staff to our cabaña :) (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: A cabana or cabaña is a small hut built with a thatched roof, most commonly built in tropical climates near bodies of water)
there were chairs at the balcony outside & a small path from our door led to the beach :D i like!
was snapping pictures away when i ask baby: "why was our beds 2 singles instead of a double?" hahas so we went back to the main counter to ask for a change :p
another walk to view the other available cabana before moving over machium buying flats..LOLS it was quite a distance away though :x the interior structure was the same, just double bed this time
the "new" cabana was higher & overlooking the beach got to walk a flight of stone steps down to the beach from the cabana though but i found the "new" beach nicer thus we changed over there were a lot of walking done! i felt that i already lost a lot of weight :p LOLS
finally after a long and tedious afternoon, we settled into cabana 1082 :D unpacked for a bit before baby said that the sun was setting and we decided to head out to the beach for some phototaking! hahahas
our cameras :D
baby got the adjust the settings thus there were loads of test shoots as per below :p i like the "holding-the-sun" picture! :D
more pictures! there were a lot of lounge chairs along the whole stretch of the beach!
the view was super good albeit a bit hot! :D
saw loads of little crabs scurrying on the sandy beach i had a lot of fun camwhoring :p HAHAHS then baby (being a "pro" photographer now) felt that the current lense of the canon camera wasnt good enough so he decided to walk back to our cabana for the wide angle lense =.= i was lazy (& tired) so i sat on the lounge chair & waited for him at the beach instead :p
some photos taken by him when he came back :)
it was nearing 7pm but still very bright (think its the long days and short nights season right now) however, our tummy were rumbling thus we decided to grab dinner at the cafe in the resort there were a choice of buffet & the spread were all laid out already but we chose ala-carte :p the-left-in-the-open food doesnt appeal to me when there were flies around :x
while waiting for our food, the sky was turning dark rapidly
food! the bread came when it was still bright but the mains only come when its dark..lols my fried rice & baby's curry fish head :)
food was so-so i found my rice a tad salty :x baby's curry fish head tasted more like assam & the fish head was fried? i did this with my leftovers; "Lobster" Fried Rice :D
by this time, looking at the tourists around, we found that ratio of asians to non-asians to be not our side..HAHAs there were so many non asians around! :x i think we look more foreign than them
after dinner, we went to check out the package for island hopping with the hotel staff but there werent enough people to start a group for the next morning at the point of time zzzz we didnt know they go by the number of pax to start a group :( left our names and promised to check back later before walking back to our cabana
saw this at the cabana next door! it was very dark & i thought it was a giant house lizard at first as i could only see a dark shadow of its body! took a picture and realised that it was a gecko
slacked and watched tv in our cabana there wasnt any free wireless wi-fi available; all the effort of lugging the netbook wasted :( its ok for me though since i could live without the internet baby was only worried about his browser game~~ hahahs
called the main desk at 11pm to check our island-hopping trip but it had to be cancelled due to insufficient number of ppl :( sadded Plan A failed :( was really looking forward to it! luckily we had some Plan B in mind already so it wasnt that bad; we werent exactly lost of what to do
didnt want to retire early so we went down to the beach cafe/pub which closes only at 1am The Seashell Cafe, clinche, quint, with its antique wooden candle lamp & giant guitar :) the music was so-so but the ambience was good :)
ordered ice cold cocktails but the alcohol content was too strong for my liking :x hard a hard time swallowing it each time there were cherries so baby tied a knot, trying to prove he was good at frenching? LOLS staff was friendly & offer to take a picture for us :D
randomly~~
it was late but when you were drinking and by the beach, it just felt that we were missing something.... FINGER FOOD!!! HAHAs! we were such gluttons! :x luckily there were still food for us to order (normally the kitchen closes early in a pub) and we had pizza! :p so sinful!!!!
one of the waiter was very friendly and nice had a good chat with him & got his name; Mohan :) we paid up soon after finishing the pizza and went back to the cabana to retire for the night :D
Day 2:
we planned to wake up early, like 8am? to swim but when the alarm rings, it just got switched off :x hahahs still, we got out of bed at late 9-ish, all for breakfast! because last order was by 1030am..LOLS for the food!
we wanted our room to be tidied up, so we hung up the sign at the hook near our door (see pic below)
but it took only 30seconds & a strong wind to blew it off and land somewhere down below and unreachable =.=
& a look at where it landed, we found more of its "comrades" LOLS looks like we werent the only ones with the same problem =.=
decided to just leave it since our room wasnt exactly too untidy so we headed to the cafe for our breakfast :D baby said that white pigeons were rare?
variety of food was normal i always have to get the cereals :p fresh milk vs low fat, low fat won :D
the fun bread toaster, it just roll roll roll untoasted bread in and spit the toasted one out :D hahahahs
our breakfast! ^^
i took mango instead of orange juice at first (the colour was the same!) so both of us were wondering why the orange juice tasted funny, a bit mango-ish HAHAs and we only realised my blunder when baby went to make a change of drink :p
it was a very fulfilling breakfast :D & we set out (planned to do so on foot) to our next destination :)
while waiting for baby who went to the toilet, i saw a cabinet full of these looks like the Seashell cafe had won loads of awards for the resort :)
walking out :)
were just at the entrance of the resort when we saw some small shops and a car/scooter rental shop decided to check them out and asked about the price for scooter rental dont need think about car as we both dont have class 3 license, luckily baby got bike one :) RM$40 for a full day (to return same time next morning) it was a deal!
got to make a trip to the petrol kiosk to top up first its a pay first then pump self service baby paid RM$30 to the counter, not knowing the petrol price, in the end it only took RM$5.46 and 3litres of petrol to get a full tank =.= LOLS luckily the counter returned the balance of the money to us :)
after that, its one long long straight road to our first stop; The Oriental Village :) the main thing there to visit was the cable car :D
the bridge could really shake a lot if you walked very fast on it
there was a animal garden in the village not much animals though since its quite small chickens, roosters, turkey, rabbits (loads of them!) & a monkey, thats what we saw and the monkey very cute, keep sucking its thumb :p
the interior :)
finally, much to my reluctance and anticipation~~ HAHAHs RM$30 per pax, we didnt even think about the price, we just had to get on it
reluctance because i think i had a phobia for heights :x but then again, i think its more of fear of death~~ wahahahas the journey was insane there were 3 stations; ground, middle, top and the middle station was on top of a hill which meant that our climb in the cable car would become a sharp upwards nearing the middle station :X
baby was enjoying himself and snapping away i was trying to enjoy myself, (stay calm), and snapping away (to divert my attention from said phobia) the view was awsome but i just couldnt relax and fully enjoy myself when i was a thick cable away from death :X i could be such a pessimist (i am not a risk taker)
and finally, after all the butterflies-in-stomach moments, we reached the midde station safe! :)
i was happy that i could stepped on firm ground :p went up to the viewing station, we were 652.5 meter above sea level o.O it was a weird weather up there, scorching sun but cooling wind (due to the altitude)
once we were done there, we hopped onto the next available cable car to the top (last) station it was just on the mountain top opposite another short but "argh" ride for me :p
more viewing stations & more weird weather ~~ we were now 710 meters above sea level and it meant more camwhorings too :p
there was a link bridge which was like hanging in the air
we found a flight of steps going downwards at one end and decided to check it out it was very hot though :( and its a down and up climb
we emerged on the other side of the bridge where we entered on top my legs were aching with all the steps climbing :( took a rest and bought drinks before we take the cable car down :) there was a souveiner stall and its selling tees like "I survived Langkawi Cable Car" i didnt feel that its quite apt yet as we were right on top now would have been more apt if we had made the ride down in one piece :x ahhh..the negative in me...hahahas
hopped onto the cable car after finishing our drinks the trip to the middle station was alright but i hate it when the car was entering the stations there were always jerkings that made my heart jumped super fast :( middle station to ground station, the first part was horror its was a steep climb up when we were going up so now its a steep drop down =.= zzz i just kept looking down at my feet the drop was fast which was a relief and its a long (to me) journey back
i was really joyful to exit the cable car :) HAHAHAs i just dont like the idea that i may just die in some foreign land :x
waiting for baby who was in the toilet :p
walked past this earlier and i wanted to try :D Fish Spa! RM$18 per pax for 15min, not very cheap but for the experience! HAHAs we were lucky too as when we arrived, those people who were using the pool were leaving so we had the whole pool to ourselves & for the whole 15min too! :D
time to feed the fishes! it was a bit itchy at first and thats baby's Archille's heel see his epic facial expression! LOLS on the contrary, it was an enjoyment to me! :D
there wasnt really a lot of fishes for the rather big pool thus its really good that we got the whole place to ourselves :) baby put his finger then his whole hand in before we saw the "No Dipping of Hands" sign :p
15min was over very fast and we were contemplating to extend our time it was so shiok la! hahahas but we didnt, so we left the place after ginger tea with (hopefully) dead-skin-less feets :) told baby that we should do it again in Singapore
back to our scooter and to our next stop just a bit of way up the road; Seven Wells & the Waterfall and facing us (probably more to me) was a bigger challenge; more climbs upwards :(
saw monkeys along the way baby asked me not to be too excited as i snapped away as they do snatch things from people
the waterfall was too far up so we reached after a while :) loads of photo taking, baby kept walking and going to precarious places to take pictures =.= tsk~~
drinking from the waterfall? HAHAs we just have to do these kinda stuffs :p
it was super hot but we had more hiking to do to reach Seven Wells :( super long flight of stairs & it got me super grouchy too :(
but one would never die from climbing (because still young :p) so we still made it in the end :) Seven Wells was the top of the waterfall :) there were actually a jungle trial if we continue upwards but i told baby that this was my limit i really really cant climbed anymore (much to his disappointment i think) i just dont have the stamina! :(
sat and dipped my feet into the water while baby snaps away around the place :)
then down we went :) its was so much better walking down :D
come across a small shop selling cold young coconut just in time for us as we were burning from the heat and workout :p saw a cute kid at the shop too :)
ahh..ice cold goodness! ^^
hopped back onto our scooter & we decided to make a road trip to
it really felt like a road trip as we were navigating on our own with a map & the road signs luckily, its quite easy as Langkawi doesnt have a lot of roads so not much turnings to do :) arrived at the Underwater World :) there was a huge tank at the entrance which contain giant (up to 3m long) freshwater fishes its both fascinating & horrifying :x hahahs
we didnt buy tickets to visit the underwater world though as it closes early and it wouldnt be worth it exited and we asked for directions to our next stop before hitting the roads again :) hunger pangs were hitting us as we only had had 1 meal (breakfast) for the day so next stop was Fat Mum's (chinese tze char) :) it was quite highly raved on forums so we decided to try it luckily we managed to asked for directions (from the policeman we met on the way :p) as the location of the restaurant wasnt quite visible from the main road
just a small 2 level place and we were the only customers probably cause its still too early for dinner ordered and waited for our food it was duper hot and wind-less :( even the wind from the fan was hot..argh
watermelon juice to cool us down first it was very sweet & i like! :D we had rice, ee mian (their specialty), chilli kangkong, spicy garlic prawns, shark fin soup, tomyam soup & prawn omelette :) the shark fin soup was RM$12 per bowl but its worth it! very nice! :D
food was good on the whole & good food is always bliss! :D ride our way back to the Duty Free Shop for some grocery shoppings! everything is DFS in Langkawi which made a lot of things damn cheap :) manage to snap a picture of the huge Chivas bomb before i saw the no photography sign :p we bought drinks and snacks for the night :D
ride back to the resort after since the sun was setting and the other attractions were too far from where we were we decided to catch sunset again so we were "speeding" - the scooter could only reach 60km/hr max =.= back at our cabana, dumped our stuffs, grab the cameras, off to the beach :D
blurred :( but thats me! hahahs
attempt jump shoots! thanks to the fast shutter speed of the canon, baby need only 1 try and me 2 tries due to my hair covering my face for the first attempt :)
satisfied with the sunset and walking on the beach we returned to our cabana and took a long bath to soothe our tired bodies :) watched tv and snack away wahahahas!
nearing 11+pm we pick up our DFS beer (duper cheap!! beer is too bitter for me so i bought jolly shandy; its still beer but plus lemonade :p wahahahahas!) and walked over to Seashell to chill :D
this time i was craving for fried stuffs to go with our beers :p so its fried chicken wings & french fries! ahhh..bliss~~~ ^^
chit chat, drank and ate the night away :) its our last night in Langkawi and there were just too little time for so many things! :x
Mohan brought this over to show us a hermit crab..so cute..wahahahas
its been a long day and i was tired pretty fast (especially after food :x) paid up and bidded goodbye to Mohan after we were done with our drinks and food then back to our cabana to sleep :)
Day 3:
Didnt manage to wake up early again..wahahahs but always in time for breakfast :) breakfast was fruity, eggy and cereal-y for me today just dont feel like eating the meaty stuffs :p
After breakfast, baby need to return the scooter while i waited at the lobby for him someone just had to act cool~~~ LOLS
met some monkeys when we were walking back to our cabana they were on the trees above our cabana
we needed to check-out by 12pm but flight was at 4pm thus we only need to check in by 3pm at the airport so we packed our bags, check out of the cabana first and left our stuffs in the luggage holding room :) decided to check out the water sports available at the beach with the remaining time left
saw a monitor lizard? at the path towards the beach :)
there wasnt Parasailing available much to baby's dismay the rest were either too expensive (jet ski-ing) or too bo liao (canoe-ing) hahahas so we decided to just swim and slack at the beach :p
swam, baby buried himself in the sand, splash water at each other etc it was hot but the water was good :D showered off the sand at the shower available beside the swimming pool of the hotel and we went in for a short swim too (just got to use the facilities :p) the pool wasnt very big though, just good for a dip/ leisure swimming too bad we never had the time to make full use of it when the time was up, we dried up, changed and asked for a taxi to send us to the airport
arrived, check-in and since there were still time, we went up to a cafe in the airport to wait for boarding time and ate as well :x just couldnt resist the smell of the waffles and its nice! :D
by the time we finish the waffles, its boarding time so we headed to the departure hall were feeling very tired since its water and sun in the morning
boarding was on time this time and we set off for Singapore
Goodbye beautiful Langkawi! We hope to come back soon :) |
